Fairer Funding for Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
We know that disability justice activists are best placed to create positive impact in the lives of disabled people.
With the recent announcement of the cuts in UK aid and similar reductions in aid around the world, now is the time to ensure that more funding reaches disability justice activists and organisations who know best what needs to be done. Greater flexibility of funding will also give activists the freedom to decide their own agenda and priorities.
Ask your MP to support our call for Fairer Funding.
If you live in the UK, and agree that funding should be focused on leaders of organisations of persons with disabilities and activists whose expertise is rooted in lived experience, we would encourage you to write to your MP, highlighting the following points:
- Disability Justice activists and organisations know best how to make positive change for disabled people in their communities, but they lack access to funding and resources.
- More flexible and long-term funding for these groups will mean they can better tackle challenging circumstances and make real and lasting change.
- The funding that is available should be accessible to smaller groups led by disabled people in Africa and Asia.
