Young Disability Justice Activists Decide.
In 2023 ADD International in partnership with Bournemouth University, ran a pilot participatory grant-making round with young disability justice activists in Tanzania.
Over a three-day festival, the young people developed and shared their ideas, which were judged by a panel of their peers. Young disabled people themselves decided which ideas should receive funding.
Eva received funding to implement her musical campaign to tackle stigma among bus drivers to give better access to public transport to disabled people in her community.
Gertrude was part of the decision making panel.
In this webinar, you can hear directly from them, along with the ADD team, about how this pilot was run, what we have learnt, why this is an ethical and effective way to go about things, and how we hope to do more of this kind of funding in future.
