Announcing our strategic partnership with the Ford Foundation.
ADD International is delighted to announce a 5-year strategic partnership with the Ford Foundation, as a BUILD partner!
The Ford Foundation is one of the largest funders and advocates of disability justice, which is at the heart of our work and our new strategy, Mtiririko.
The BUILD Programme.
The BUILD programme demonstrates the Ford Foundation’s commitment to flexibly investing in social justice organisations so that they can become stronger and more resilient over time. ADD International also believes in the power of flexible and unrestricted funding to allow organisations and movement to grow and thrive; especially those that have historically been overlooked for funding such as disability justice organisations.
Aim of the BUILD Grant.
Our BUILD grant will support ADD’s ongoing transformation to become a participatory grant maker for disability justice and to deliver all five strategic objectives in our new strategy; ultimately strengthening ADD’s ability to shift more power and resources to disability justice activists in Africa and Asia.
Our shared belief in the power and importance of disability justice, flexible funding and organisational strengthening / transformation makes this partnership a truly transformative match.
Hear from Otto Saki, the Global Program Officer for Civic Engagement and Government, Ford Foundation.
We at Ford Foundation are really excited to have been able to invest in ADD’s bold vision for disability justice and their innovative approach to participatory grant making. We hope this long-term partnership will support them to strengthen the organisation and achieve the vision that is set out in Mtiririko.
At ADD, we congratulate the Ford’s Foundation’s leadership on institutional
strengthening and disability justice and encourage other funders to follow suit.
Currently only 3% of human rights funding is dedicated to disability, according to the Human Rights Funders Network 2019 Annual Report. More funders must incorporate disability if they are committed to furthering a thriving, just, equitable society. We also need more funders to provide flexible funding so that organisations can be more impactful in their work.
We are incredibly excited about everything we will achieve together over the next five years of this partnership and beyond.
