Cote d'Ivoire programme is launched
July 2010

Due to the civil war ADD International suspended its work in Côte d’Ivoire in December 2002. With the help of ADD Burkina Faso, and funding from the EU and the Breadsticks Foundation, work has resumed in 2010.

The programme, which aims to strengthen the capacities of Disabled People’s Organisations, was launched on Tuesday 1st June in Bouake, the second largest city in Côte d’Ivoire.

Strengthening the capacities of Disabled People’s Organisations enables them to influence political, economic and social decisions, to end the violation of the rights of disabled people.

The project will mobilise disabled people to form and join Disabled People's Organisations. With support from ADD, these organisations will challenge discrimination against disabled people at all levels. They will also advocate for equal opportunities and full inclusion and participation of disabled people in development.

The project involves 25 associations of disabled people in ten localities of the regions of the Valley of Bandama, of Savannahs, of Lakes, of Lagoons, Marahoué and High Sassandra.
