Cote d'Ivoire has been gripped by civil conflict since 2002 and, as in most war situations, disabled people have found it more difficult than non-disabled people to flee from the conflict zone in the north.

Through distance funding and advice from our regional office in neighbouring Burkina Faso, ADD is supporting disabled people’s organisations in the northern region of Bouake to work closely with humanitarian organisations such as the Red Cross to ensure that their aid programmes include disabled people effectively. As a result, humanitarian aid is now being distributed through the disabled people’s networks, and disabled people are being regularly consulted by the humanitarian organisations and other policymakers.
